How can I join DSDC?
The only way to join DSDC, is by attending our open day that is organized twice a year. During this open day, you have the chance to get scouted by our coaches. The students who get scouted will get an offer to join DSDC after the open day has ended. You can Apply for the open day by filling out this form.
I want to attend the open day but I am worried that I do not have enough debate experience.
This is no problem! At DSDC we value growth and look for students who are willing to learn. If you have no debate experience but are enthusiastic to apply, we encourage you to do so.
How many hours a week do students spend on DSDC?
DSDC offers an intensive program that requires proper planning from students. About three times a month, students are expected to join training sessions from 10:00-17:00. These sessions usually take place in Rotterdam or Utrecht. On top of that, students have the opportunity to do homework that is tailor-made to their specific needs. The amount of homework is assigned based on how much a student indicates they can spend on it. Therefore, this could range between 1-5 hours per week. Since DSDC attends international tournaments as a part of the training process, homework time can increase as a preparation for the tournament.
Coaches at DSDC are aware of the input we require from students. For this reason, all students at DSDC have a personal mentor who can help them navigate struggles related to planning and time management.
Where do DSDC training sessions take place?
Currently, our sessions take place in Utrecht and Rotterdam.
I would like a coaching or directors position at DSDC, where can I apply?
DSDC is looking for new members to strengthen our foundation. If you are interested in applying, please send an email to dutchschools@gmail.com with your CV and motivation.
What are the admission criteria of DSDC?
DSDC is looking for students who have a great potential of developing themselves as debaters. Therefore, extensive debate experience is not a requirement. However, what is important is eagerness to learn and implement feedback.
Students from both Dutch and international schools are welcome to apply to DSDC. We specifically look for students who graduate in 2025 or later.
Does it cost money to attend DSDC?
DSDC is a foundation, this means that we depend on donations to keep on facilitating debate education to our students. At the same time, we believe that debate education should be accessible to anyone. For this reason, we ask parents to contribute through a donation so that students who are unable to afford DSDC can receive the same opportunities as any other student.
