What is DSDC?
Dutch Schools Debate College trains the national selection of high
school debaters (ranging in age from 12-18). Students receive training 3 Saturdays a month from 10AM – 5PM, and attend national as well as international debating tournaments 2-3 times a year. Students are assigned to “tracks” based on their age, skill, and experience in order to receive the most personalised and suitable coaching. Every year, 4 to 5 students are selected to attend World Schools Debating Championships to represent The Netherlands on the global debating landscape.
What does a place in the board of directors of DSDC offer you?
This position offers you to opportunity to develop your leadership and coördination skills and make them verifiable for future employers. As a member of the board, you guide an organisation consisting of 20-30 students and 8-10 coaches. As the logistics director, you are responsible for the logistical side of DSDC’s
operations, attending quarterly meetings with the formal board, and bi-weekly meetings with the board of directors. The time commitment for this role is estimated at 3-5 hours a week. The organisational responsibilities you get in this position will help you grow as a professional in the planning and logistics domain. The skills you develop here are valuable contributions to your CV and to a smooth experience for all the talented motivated students we guide in our foundation.
During the academic year, you are responsible for the following affairs:
– Leading the organisation of selection events & open days
– Coördinating the travel plans for tournaments
– Arranging locations for the training sessions
– Organising events such as alumni reunions and social activities
Profile:
– You have demonstrated the ability to organise events for large groups
– You are highly systematic and know what is needed to coördinate plans effectively
– You are able to plan ahead and work on different tasks simultaneously
– You are familiar with group bookings for international transportation
– You have strong interpersonal skills
